We’d like to take a moment and recognize the following employee for their years of service and dedication to Green River. Please take a moment to learn more about them, in their own words.
What do you love about working at Green River?
I get to work each day knowing that I have a purpose and that my work improves the lives of our students.
What does working in higher education mean to you?
It means giving students the professional and personal skills to reach their potential. I like helping people reach their potential in just about any area of their lives.
Where is one spot on campus you find relaxing?
My office. Has a great view of trees and sky. I also enjoy my clean, uncluttered space (which earns me mocking from fellow faculty who like to keep their offices more “cozy” for lack of a better word). :)
Of all employee benefits, which one do you appreciate most?
Reasonably priced health care is awesome.
In your role, what accomplishment are you most proud of?
More than tripling enrollments in a program that was truly struggling.
Helping build and launch a bachelor’s degree in marketing and entrepreneurship.
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know anything about me, which is fairly intentional on my part.
If you could swap places with any other position on campus just for one day, what position would that be?
Derek, because he apparently has access to a cloning machine. Which seems cool.
What on campus makes you smile the most?
Sunshine and green trees. And Josh Gerstman.
What classes on campus have you taken or would you like to take in the future?
Would love to take archery because I need it for my ninja training.
What advice would you give to a brand new employee?
Meet as many people across campus as possible, as soon as possible. Helps in so many ways.
Who is one person at Green River you’d like to thank for contributing to your success?
Can’t choose one. Leslie Moore gave me my start at Green River. Sidney Weldele-Wallace (and our former dean Krista Fox) provided guidance and leadership when I transitioned to a faculty role. Working here the last 10 years has been such a blessing to me and my family in so many ways – I’ll always be indebted to Leslie, Sidney, and Krista for making it possible.
