We’d like to take a moment and recognize our newest employees to Green River. Please take a moment to learn more about them, in their own words.
Please tell everyone your new title and a little bit about your professional background.
I share the title of Employee & Labor Relations Manager. I worked in the Human Resources arena during the last 6 of my 12 years of service in the US Army.
What drew you to apply to Green River College?
I was told that Green River College was a great place to start a new career and develop yourself. I was also told there are some great mentors here at the college.
On the car ride to work, what do you listen to?
Lately, I am mostly listening to comedy on my way to work.
What was the very first job you ever had?
I was a cashier/stocker at a wholesale retailer.
What is it about your new position that is most exciting for you?
This position requires researching and applying state and federal law into every day functions. This is the most exciting part because it creates a standard for supervisors/managers, and I get to see how they develop their departments and programs to become better and better and better over time.
What is one thing you’d love to accomplish in your first year at Green River?
Establish a great rapport with all the departments that I serve.
What three accomplishments are you most proud of in your life?
The three accomplishments I am most proud of are raising two awesome girls, meeting both President Obama and President Bush, and having an overactive imagination where I imagine myself winning the lottery.
If your coworkers were to give you an office nickname, what would that be? Why?
Rocco/Rako….Complicated first name and who doesn’t like nicknames?
For Green River’s annual talent show (this doesn’t actually exist), what hidden talent would you showcase for everyone?
I don’t have any exciting talents, but whoever convinces me to even sign up for a talent show is very talented in the art of trickery.
If G.R.E.E.N. were an acronym for something, what would each letter stand for?
