We’d like to take a moment and recognize our newest employees to Green River. Please take a moment to learn more about them, in their own words.
Please tell everyone your new title and a little bit about your professional background.
I am the Institutional Research Coordinator. I will be leaving Highline Public Schools where I managed organizational change projects using SharePoint and was a core member of the launch of their new student management system, illuminate. Prior to that, I worked at Renton Technical College and was a data analyst consultant at Skagit Valley, Grays Harbor, and Whatcom colleges. Previously, I worked as an engineer for 15 years at The Boeing Company.
What drew you to apply to Green River?
I had worked for Chris Johnson at Renton Technical College and really enjoyed that. When I found out about the new position, it sounded like an exciting opportunity.
On the car ride to work, what do you listen to?
I like to listen to the online radio station, KLOVE. When I drive over to Spokane, my hometown, I get the station, but here in the Puget Sound I don’t. So, I need to listen online.
What was the very first job you ever had?
I was a “bingo-ette” at Big Brother’s Bingo in Spokane. We called the numbers, distributed the paper bingo cards and poured coffee. At that time, there weren’t any casinos, so it was Big business.
What about your new position is most exciting for you?
The collaboration and conversion of the proprietary legacy system to the Oracle PeopleSoft system environment.
What is one thing you’d love to accomplish in your first year at Green River?
I would like to understand the Green River social and technical environment so I can make the conversion as smooth as possible.
What three accomplishments are you most proud of in your life?
I earned a BS in Electrical Engineering and a MBA
I have followed my heart at major life points
I purchased and manage several rental properties in the Seattle and Spokane areas
If your coworkers were to give you an office nickname, what would that be?
Perky – I’m usually pretty energetic and a little hyperactive.
For Green River’s annual talent show (this doesn’t actually exist), what hidden talent would you showcase for everyone?
Stand-up Comedy – What it’s been like to be a woman in a tech environment and a techie in an educational environment.
If G.R.E.E.N. were an acronym for something, what would each letter stand for?
Get Ready Everyone, Engage Now!
