Effective Monday, June 27, 2016, the general hours of business operations will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 8:00 a.m. to noon on Friday. Green River College will be closed to the public after noon on Fridays.
What does this mean to the public and our students? It means that we will be here as we always are and in some cases, more than we are now. We will continue to provide support and services through the summer, but we will not guarantee that we will make appointments after noon on Fridays.
What does this mean to you as an employee? Honestly, it may not have a direct impact on you. Your regular work schedule will only change if you and your supervisor agree to change your schedule. If you and your supervisor agree to alter your schedule, then your hours may be different.
*Note: The 30-minute meal and 15-minute rest breaks must still be taken in compliance with our respective collective bargaining agreements, and/or state and federal regulations. With respect to the Friday schedule, classified employees must be allowed a 15-minute rest break, but the 30-minute meal break is not required unless the employee works more than five hours on Friday. In that event, the 30-minute meal break is also required and would extend the day by 30 minutes. Please contact Barbara Iribarren or Chernenko Wheatley if you have any questions about the revised schedule or alternate work schedules.
What if I do change my hours? There are certain rules that we have to follow. Your supervisor will check with one of the Employee & Labor Relations Managers in the HR office to make sure that your proposed schedule meets with federal, state, and local laws as well as negotiated agreements.
When will it end? Summer hours will run through Friday, September 2, after which we will return to our regular hours of operations schedule on Tuesday, September 5, after the Labor Day holiday.
