New Employee Spotlight – Supacha Thongsuwan

We’d like to take a moment and recognize our newest employees to Green River. Please take a moment to learn more about them, in their own words.

Please tell everyone your new title and a little bit about your professional background.

My new title is Program Specialist 2- International Programs Business Manager Assistant. Prior to joining Green River, I worked in the international education industry in Bangkok, Thailand and the Online Travel industry in Bellevue, WA.

What drew you to apply to Green River?
What drew me to Green River was the strong international programs department and my passion to work with diverse student population.

On the car ride to work, what do you listen to?
I listen to pop and electronic music. My favorites are Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris, and Maroon 5.

What was the very first job you ever had?
The first job I had was being a cashier at the University of Oregon Bookstore (The Duck Store).

What about your new position is most exciting for you?
My favorite part is getting to work with students and very friendly office environment.

What is one thing you’d love to accomplish in your first year at Green River?
Make a positive impact on a student success or take an interesting class at Green River.

What three accomplishments are you most proud of in your life?

  • Built a house for a family in need in Mexico.
  • Been a foreign exchange student at the age of 15.
  • Got 2 job promotions in 1 year at the previous company I worked at. 

If your coworkers were to give you an office nickname, what would that be? Why?
Panda, because they can look serious but they are actually playful.

For Green River’s annual talent show (this doesn’t actually exist), what hidden talent would you showcase for everyone?
I play a Thai instrument called Khim.

If G.R.E.E.N. where an acronym for something, what would each letter stand for?
