We’d like to take a moment and recognize our newest employees to Green River. Please take a moment to learn more about them, in their own words. Please tell everyone your new title and a little bit about your professional background.
My new title is Program Support Supervisor. I have been in customer service my entire professional life. Most of that time has been spent working in casinos from frontline to management positions.
What drew you to apply to Green River?
Working in casinos sounds fun, right? No. After 10 years of “hustling” (as we called it) I was done. I saw this position and thought I’d be a pretty good fit. I received my Bachelor’s in Sociology in 2008 because I really wanted to help others. I felt like this would be a position where I felt I could give back to others and the community.
On the car ride to work, what do you listen to?
I live close enough to walk to work!!! It’s awesome! But in the shower I listen to 950 KJR. I am a Slickhawk fan boy. I got a selfie with him at the USMNT match at Centurylink earlier this summer.
What was the very first job you ever had?
Cashier at Burgerville.
What about your new position is most exciting for you?
The most exciting part for me is that I finally have a position where I have the ability to help others. I’ve been in this position for 3 weeks now and every day I feel like I am making a positive difference in other people’s lives.
What is one thing you’d love to accomplish in your first year at Green River?
I haven’t really thought about it. I just want to come to work, do my job, and go the extra mile for the people I work with and the students.
What three accomplishments are you most proud of in your life?
- Being the first person in my family to attend college and graduate.
- Getting married to the best person I have ever met.
- Being true to myself. (Don’t know if that’s an accomplishment.)
If your coworkers were to give you an office nickname, what would that be? Why?
I asked my coworkers about this and Joshika said, “Bear!” which is actually what my wife calls me. So there you go.
For Green River’s annual talent show (this doesn’t actually exist), what hidden talent would you showcase for everyone?
I guess I could give them really solid fantasy football advice. I used to write my own blog (pretentious face).
If G.R.E.E.N. where an acronym for something, what would each letter stand for?
Goblins Rarely Ever Engage in Nurturing……I’m bad at acronyms.
