We’d like to take a moment and recognize our newest employees to Green River. Please take a moment to learn more about them, in their own words.
Please tell everyone your new title and a little bit about your professional background.
Senior Director of Financial Services. 20+ years in Accounting Management, including government/fund accounting, ERP (accounting) system implementations, audit and training.
What drew you to apply to Green River?
As a resident of the GRC district I have watched the growth and positive impact the College has for so many people. I want to be a part of something that is bigger than me. Contributing my core competencies to the success of the College allows me to strive for that goal. Also, this commute is beautiful.
On the car ride to work, what do you listen to?
Seattle Wolf radio.
What was the very first job you ever had?
Sorting returned bottles/cans (Oregon) at my family’s grocery store.
What about your new position is most exciting for you?
Being a part of the College.
What is one thing you’d love to accomplish in your first year at Green River?
Learn as much as possible about our current accounting system (FMS) in order to lead our team successfully both in the short term and in the planning for success with the conversion to the new system (cTcLink).
What three accomplishments are you most proud of in your life?
- Successfully raising my son.
- Buying my house and two other investment properties all by myself.
- Being a kind and generous person.
If your coworkers were to give you an office nickname, what would that be? Why?
Nickname would be Searcher, because I am always looking for information and knowledge and sharing with others to help solve challenges.
For Green River’s annual talent show (this doesn’t actually exist), what hidden talent would you showcase for everyone?
How to sew on a button. Only because so many people never learn things like this any more.
If G.R.E.E.N. were an acronym for something, what would each letter stand for?
