New Employee Spotlight – Marty Warden

We’d like to take a moment and recognize our newest employees to Green River. Please take a moment to learn more about them, in their own words.
Warden, Marty
Please tell everyone your new title and a little bit about your professional background.
I have done a little of everything. I have been a substitute teacher, a bellman/concierge, a real estate salesman, a tax pro for H&R block, a messenger for Brinks, Inc. riding in the back of an armored truck delivering cash and valuables. Marty currently works as a mail carrier in the GRC Mailroom.

What drew you to apply to Green River?
My wife alerted me, and she also works here. It has been a great first day.

On the car ride to work, what do you listen to?
105.3FM or 950 sports or 98.1 classical.

What was the very first job you ever had?
I was a pizza cook for Straw Hat Pizza. (home of the deep dish pizza for those of us seasoned enough to remember the 70s and 80s).

What about your new position is most exciting for you?
It’s not my old position. Seriously, everything is fresh and exciting, and everyone is so polite and friendly!

What is one thing you’d love to accomplish in your first year at Green River?
Being the best I can be and doing my job at a high level.

What three accomplishments are you most proud of in your life?

  • Making the good choice to marry my wife.
  • Handling over 100 billion dollars in cash for brinks and never losing a dollar.
  • I got a hole in one at Christy’s golf club in Milton (course no longer exists).

If your coworkers were to give you an office nickname, what would that be? Why?
Not sure. I guess we’ll be surprised!

For Green River’s annual talent show (this doesn’t actually exist), what hidden talent would you showcase for everyone?
My ability to listen and encourage someone.

If G.R.E.E.N. were an acronym for something, what would each letter stand for?

Great Responses Encourage Everyone Nicely
